NSF Unsolicited Proposals at the Interface of Mathematical Sciences and Computer Sciences

The NSF's Division of Mathematical Sciences (DMS) and Division of Computing and and Communication Foundations (CCF) have issued a "Dear Colleague" letter on basic research at the interface of the mathematical sciences and computer sciences. The letter encourages collaboration between mathematicians and computer scientists and encourages proposals from interdisciplinary research teams on projects of mutual interest in specific areas of mathematical sciences and computer sciences. Examples listed include point-cloud data analysis; multiscale modeling and computation; algebra in computer science (areas of interest include algorithms, cryptography, coding theory, complexity theory, and image and signal processing); and learning theory. Details of research topics within these areas are included at the NSF web site. The web site also contains details on proposal submission.
