Each year we ask the members of the PAM, Sci-Tech, and Engineering Divisions of SLA to answer some thought-provoking questions about common practices and future directions of the journal and book publishing industry. The results of this survey offer us a particularly important perspective because these particular divisions represent so many readers and users of SIAM journals and books.
In 2009, rather than giving out a premium at our booth, SIAM made a nominal donation to the Arbor Day Foundation for each completed survey we received. We are happy to report that as a result of this donation,125 trees were planted in the Okaloacoochee State Forest in Florida. In addition, 31,250 square feet of endangered rain forest were saved.
