John von Neumann LectureGeometric and Computational Dynamics The overarching themes of geometric mechanics and computational dynamical systems will be explained and illustrated with several examples. The examples include discrete mechanics of ideal fluids, developments and applications of Lagrangian coherent structures, the swimming of articulated bodies in fluids, and optimization using ideas from variational integrators and discrete mechanics.
