Electromagnetic and Semiconductor Device Simulation for Microelectronic and Photonic Systems

Accurate modeling of electromagnetic effects is becoming an important factor in advanced microelectronic and optoelectronic systems. Parasitic capacitances and inductances, transmission properties of interconnects, optical wave propagation effects, and electromagnetic compatibility are crucial for the performance of high-speed applications. Rigorous electromagnetic simulation coupled with nonlinear semiconductor device simulation provides predictive results and serves as a basis for extraction and calibration of higher level abstract models. This minisymposium is focused on rigorous and coupled techniques for the numerical analysis of microelectronic systems including nonlinear devices and optoelectronic components.
