Martensites and Ferroelectrics (Part I of II)

Fine scale microstructure lies at the heart of various active materials like martensites and ferroelectrics. The speakers in this minisymposium will discuss recent advances in understanding the nature of such microstructure and the dynamics of their evolution. This minisymposium will consist of two sessions. The first focuses on dynamics; here the understanding is largely limited to model problems in one dimension. The second explores the microstructure in two or three dimensions; here the understanding is largely limited to statics.
