Panel Discussion: Challenges in Computational Science

Moderator: Steven Ashby, Director, Center for Applied Scientific Computing, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

The panel will discuss coming challenges in computational science over the next 5-10 years. Topics to be addressed include

• What are the exciting new domain science areas?
• What are the algorithmic and mathematical challenges ahead?
• What computer science and architectural issues loom large?
• Is the future compute-intensive or data-intensive?
• How can we attract young scientists to the field?

Each panelist will have 15-20 minutes to address these questions. The panel will then field questions from the audience. Discussion�even debate�is strongly encouraged!
