August 13, 2012August 31, 2012:  Minisymposium proposals
September 10, 2012:  Abstracts for contributed and minisymposium speakers

How to Participate

SIAM requests that individuals limit themselves to giving one talk. (This does not apply to invited plenary speakers). The co-chairs of the organizing committee may make exceptions if sufficient justification is provided. For authors wishing to deliver more than one talk, please contact the co-chairs ([email protected] and [email protected]) to request an exception.

You are invited to contribute a presentation for this conference in one of the following formats.

Minisymposia

A minisymposium consists of four 25-minute presentations, with an additional five minutes for discussion after each presentation. Prospective minisymposium organizers are asked to submit a proposal consisting of a title, a description (not to exceed 100 words), and a list of speakers and titles of their presentations using the Conference Management System available at:  http://meetings.siam.org/start.cfm?CONFCODE=cs13.

It is recommended that a minisymposium organizer make the first presentation. Each minisymposium speaker should submit a 75-word abstract. The organizing committee will referee minisymposium proposals. The number of minisymposia may be limited to retain an acceptable level of parallelism in the conference sessions.

To ensure balance, SIAM prefers that a single individual not be the organizer of more than one minisymposium and not give more than one talk. The co-chairs of the organizing committee may make exceptions if sufficient justification is provided. In addition, SIAM prefers that minisymposia be comprised of at most two parts. For exceptions, please contact the co-chairs ([email protected] and [email protected]to request an exception. In addition, SIAM discourages minisymposia in which most of the speakers come from the same organization or if all co-authors on the papers being presented in a minisymposium are from the same organization.

Be certain to visit http://www.siam.org/meetings/guidelines/mini_guide.php to review Guidelines for Preparing a Minisymposium Proposal.

Contributed Presentations in Poster or LectureFormat

Contributed presentations in poster or lecture format are invited in all areas consistent with the conference themes. This conference will have an emphasis on the poster format, including prizes for best poster and best student poster. The contributed poster format involves the use of non-electronic visual aids for mounting on a 4’ x 6’ or 4’ x 8’ poster board.  The poster session will begin with a plenary session where each contributor delivers a short oral promotion of her/his poster, followed by a two-hour interactive poster display session.

The contributed lecture format involves a 15-minute oral presentation with an additional 5 minutes for discussion. Each contributor, either for a poster or lecture, must submit a title and a brief abstract not to exceed 75 words.  Please submit contributed presentations in poster or lecture format using the Conference Management System available at: http://meetings.siam.org/start.cfm?CONFCODE=cs13.  The conference organizers strongly encourage contributions in the poster format rather than the lecture format

Deadline for submission of contributed abstracts:  September 10, 2012
