Control and Variational Inequalities

10:30 AM-12:30 PM
Tampa 1st Floor

The speakers in this minisymposium will address recent advances in control problems involving variational inequalities. Typical problems include application of controls to a variational inequality to achieve the minimization of a desired objective functional, or a variational inequality that may arise in the optimality conditions for an optimal control problem for partial differential equations.

Organizer: Suzanne Lenhart
University of Tennessee, Knoxville

10:30 Optimal Control of the Obstacle for an Elliptic Variational Inequality
David Adams, University of Kentucky
11:00 Tangent Cones in Besov Spaces
Jan Sokolowski, Universite Henri Poincare, France and Warsaw Academy of Sciences, Poland
11:30 On a Transmission Optimal Shape Design Problem
Pekka Neittaanmaki, University of Jyvaskyla, Finland
12:00 Closed Range Mild Solution Operators, Orthogonality and Optimal Control
