101 West Fayette Street ReservationsSIAM is holding a block of rooms at the Omni Inner Harbor Hotel. These rooms are being held on a first-come, first-served basis at $105.00 single or double occupancy. Rates are subject to 5% Maryland State tax and 7.5% Baltimore City tax for a total of 12.5% room tax= $118.13. These rooms will be held for our exclusive use until Tuesday, December 15, 1998. Reservations made after December 15 will depend on availability.We urge you to make your reservations immediately. Please fax or mail the Hotel Reservation Form directly to the Omni Inner Harbor Hotel. You may also make your reservation by phone. Please be certain to mention that you are an attendee of the Tenth Annual ACM-SIAM Symposium on Discrete Algorithms to receive the discounted rate. Hotel Room-Sharing ListA Hotel Room-Sharing List is available for those who wish to share a room with another attendee at the symposium to reduce expenses. LocationThis modern, highrise twin property in downtown Baltimore carries an AAA 3 Diamond rating. It is conveniently located just three blocks from Baltimore's famed Inner Harbor and four blocks from baseball's Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Also within walking distance are the National Aquarium, Little Italy, Antique Row, and the Lexington Market. It's a 12-minute walk to the Maryland Science Center. DepositThe Omni Inner Harbor Hotel requires a deposit equivalent to one night's room rate plus tax ($131.26) to guarantee your reservation. The hotel accepts American Express, Master Card, Visa, Carte Blanche, money orders, or personal checks as forms of payment. Arrivals and DeparturesCheck-in time is 3:00 PM and check-out time is 12:00 noon. CancellationsTo change or cancel your reservation, you must contact the hotel by 4:00 PM eastern standard time, 72 hours prior to your scheduled arrival to receive a refund of one night's deposit. DiningThe Omni Inner Harbor Hotel has three in-house restaurants. Shula's Steak House, ranked as one of the best steak houses in the country, serving only the best Certified Angus Beef and other specialties. This elegant restaurant is a virtual football museum. Shula's Steak 2 is a comfortable and casual sports restaurant and bar. Keeping this football theme in mind, the Omni features the Don Shula's Hall of Fame Lounge honoring the Baltimore Orioles, Colts and Coach Shula. This lounge features an upscale cigar bar and appetizer menu. In the surrounding area, restaurants abound; the hotel is one block from Charles Street, Baltimore's "Restaurant Row". Hotel FacilitiesThe hotel has a fully equipped fitness center. It also offers private membership at a full-service health club @ $15.00 per day, located directly across from the hotel. Hotel room conveniences include cable channels and up-to-date movies, in-room touch tone telephone with voice mail, alarm clock radios, and individual climate control. ParkingParking is available at the hotel for $15.00 per 24 hour period, with unlimited in and out privileges. This only pertains to hotel sleeping room guests. E-Mail AvailabilitySIAM cannot offer e-mail access for individual attendees. We suggest you bring your own laptop computer and use hotel facilities. If you do not have your own personal laptop computer, the hotel business office offers this service at a nominal fee. Tourist InformationThe Omni Inner Harbor Hotel is 12 miles from the Baltimore-Washington International Airport, and two miles from Amtrak's Penn Station. Contact the Baltimore Convention and Visitors Bureau at 410-659-7300 for information on the city and attractions. The weather in Baltimore can be cold in January, you might even get to see snow -- so dress appropriately. Temperatures can range from low 30's to high 40's degrees Fahrenheit. A heavy winter coat, gloves, and a hat are recommended. |
