Phase Locking in Chaotic Systems

Although phase locking in periodic systems has been studied since the 17th century, phase locking in chaotic systems has received major attention only within the last decade. This minisymposium will address the problems of finding appropriate methods for the analysis and description of the phenomenon, its detection in nature, and possible applications. The speakers will discuss instances of the phenomenon in biological and electrical systems, and plasmas, and present numerical simulations. The minisymposium should be of particular interest to researchers in neuroscience, mathematical biology and lattice dynamics; fields in which phase locking plays a crucial role.
