How to Participate

You are invited to contribute a presentation for this conference in one of the following formats. Please note that individuals will be limited to at most one minisymposium or contributed lecture. There is no limit on the number of poster presentations.

Minisymposia

We welcome minisymposium proposals from single individuals or small groups of up to three individuals. A minisymposium can consist of four to six 25-minute presentations, with an additional five minutes for discussion after each presentation (click here for instructions on how to submit a six person minisymposium proposal).

In exceptional circumstances, the Organizing Committee may approve two-part minisymposia, consisting of eight speakers. Please note that SIAM discourages minisymposia that have more than two speakers from one institution.

It is worthwhile to consider having one organizer make a presentation giving an introduction to the theme of the minisymposium. However, at most two of the organizers should make a presentation in the minisymposium.
Another option to consider is to have a panel discussion in the last half hour with the minisymposium organizer as moderator (this might be suitable in cases where the minisymposium is a mix of applied/theoretical or math/non-math/industry).

Prospective minisymposium organizers are asked to submit a proposal consisting of a title, a description (not to exceed 100 words), and a list of speakers and titles of their presentations using the Conference Management System available at: http://meetings.siam.org/start.cfm?CONFCODE=ds07

Each minisymposium speaker should submit a 75-word abstract.

The Organizing Committee will referee minisymposium proposals. The number of minisymposia may be limited to retain an acceptable level of parallelism in the conference sessions. The Organizing Committee may suggest that different minisymposia in the same field be combined. Please note that individuals will be limited to one minisymposium lecture (or one contributed lecture).

Deadline for submission of minisymposium proposals:  October 30, 2006
Deadline for submission of minisymposium speaker abstracts:  November 27, 2006

Contributed Presentations in Lecture or Poster Format

Contributed presentations in lecture or poster format are invited in all areas consistent with the conference themes. A lecture format involves a 15-minute oral presentation with an additional 5 minutes for discussion. A poster format involves the use of non-electronic visual aids for mounting on a 4’x 6’ or 4' x 8' poster board. A poster session is two hours long. Each contributor, either for a lecture or a poster, must submit a title and a brief abstract not to exceed 75 words.  Please submit contributed presentations in lecture or poster format using the Conference Management System available at: http://meetings.siam.org/start.cfm?CONFCODE=ds07

Deadline for submission of contributed abstracts:  November 27, 2006
