How to Participate

Individuals are limited to one presentation, either a minisymposium, a contributed talk or a poster presentation. In addition, individuals may be an organizer of only one minisymposium
.

You are invited to contribute a presentation for this conference in one of the following formats.

Minisymposia

A minisymposium consists of four 25-minute presentations, with an additional five minutes for discussion after each presentation. Prospective minisymposium organizers are asked to submit a proposal using the Conference Management System available at:  http://meetings.siam.org/start.cfm?CONFCODE=ds11.

A proposal should consist of a title, a description (not to exceed 100 words), a list of speakers and titles of their presentations. Organizers must ensure that proposed speakers are aware that they may make only one presentation at the meeting. Individuals may be the organizer of only one minisymposium.

The organizing committee will referee all minisymposium proposals and may limit the number of minisymposia to retain an acceptable level of parallelism in the conference sessions. Preference may be given to minisymposia that open with an overview talk and where not all speakers come from the same research group or collaborative partnership. Proposals for multipart minisymposia will be particularly closely examined.

Each minisymposium speaker should submit a 75-word abstract.

Be certain to visit http://www.siam.org/meetings/guidelines/mini_guide.php to review Guidelines for Preparing a Minisymposium Proposal.

Deadline for submission of minisymposium proposals : October 25, 2010
Deadline for submission of minisymposium speaker abstracts: November 22, 2010

Contributed Presentations in Lecture or Poster Format

Contributed presentations in lecture or poster format are invited in all areas consistent with the conference themes.

A lecture format involves a 15-minute oral presentation with an additional 5 minutes for discussion. A poster format involves the use of non-electronic visual aids for mounting on a 4’ x 6’ poster board during a two-hour session.  Each contributor, either for a lecture or a poster, must submit a title and a brief abstract not to exceed 75 words.  Note that the poster session at this meeting is held in conjunction with a dessert reception and is typically very well attended. The poster session is therefore an excellent opportunity to present work to a wide audience.

Contributors of oral presentations are strongly encouraged to provide one or more keywords relevant to their presentation. Provision of informative keywords will enable talks to be grouped as effectively as possible within the program

Please submit contributed presentations in lecture or poster format using the Conference Management System available at: http://meetings.siam.org/start.cfm?CONFCODE=ds11.
