Mesh Modeling and Processing

Complex triangle meshes occur extensively as the result of geometric modeling operations, physical simulation processes, and reconstruction from 3D scans. The large number of vertices in these meshes makes many common operations cumbersome and expensive. Examples of such operations include storage, transmission, rendering, editing, and smoothing. Because triangle meshes generally have irregular connectivities, traditional multiresolution frameworks cannot be applied directly to them. The speakers in this minisymposium present recent work on using multiresolution techniques to facilitate operations on complex irregular meshes. They will discuss simplification, fairing, editing, and watermarking.
