Remember, the hotel will not actually charge your credit card until you check into the hotel, or on the scheduled date of your arrival. If you choose to make your reservation by phone, please be certain to identify yourself as an attendee of the Seventh SIAM Conference on Applied Linear Algebra, scheduled October 23-25, 2000 to receive the discounted rate. When making your reservation, request a confirmation number.
Hotel reservations must be made by September 15, 2000.

The Brownstone Hotel and the Velvet Cloak Inn are adjacent to North Carolina State University, fifteen minutes from Raleigh-Durham International Airport, and just two blocks from the Cameron Village Shopping Center. The North Raleigh Hilton is within easy driving distance of the McKimmon Center (at the North Carolina State University.) All three hotels offer complimentary shuttle service to and from the Raleigh Durham International Airport.

For SIAM conference attendees staying at the Velvet Cloak Inn and Brownstone Hotel, in Raleigh, there will be shuttles running to and from the McKimmon Centre. �

Conference participants can take the Wolfline route: Varsity Park & Ride Rt. #5. From either hotel/inn board the Wolfline bus at the Pullen Road Stop and exit at McKimmon Centre (on the Wolfline maps this is the big complex between Gorman Street and Varsity Drive). ���� ����
SIAM conference attendees staying at the Hilton North Raleigh Hotel are staying out of the transportation loop. We suggest that you rent a car, as you will be responsible for your own transportation to the McKimmon Center and the hotel.
All three hotels require a deposit equivalent to one night's room rate, approximately $78 for the Brownstone Hotel and Velvet Cloak Inn; and $100.00 for the Hilton, to guarantee your reservation. The hotels accept American Express, MasterCard, Visa, or check as a form of payment. When making your reservation, request a confirmation number. The hotels will send out written confirmation if you request one.
Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. and check-out time is 12:00 noon at all of the hotels.
If you need to change or cancel your reservation, you must contact the hotel by 3:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, 48 hours prior to your scheduled arrival to receive a refund of your one night's deposit. Make sure you get a cancellation number from the reservation department..
Your Conference registration will include; breakfast, lunch, and coffee breaks on Monday, 10/23, Tuesday, 10/24 and Wednesday, 10/25. Raleigh offers visitors endless choices of cuisine; the Concierge at your hotel will be glad to direct you to a nearby restaurant.
During the conference, SIAM cannot offer e-mail or Internet access capabilities for individual attendees. We suggest you bring your own laptop and use the phone line in your sleeping room..
Raleigh in October has a comfortable climate with average temperature of 65 degrees F. Light weight clothing with a light coat will be most comfortable. Average temperature during the first week in October ranges between a low of 50 degrees F to a high of 65 degrees F.
