Important Message for SIAM Members

SIAM has received numerous complaints in the past two weeks concerning a WSEAS conference entitled EURO-SIAM 2010. The conference notice was sent in an email by Nikos Mastorakis.

PLEASE NOTE THAT SIAM HAS NO CONNECTION WITH THIS CONFERENCE or any other WSEAS conference.  SIAM has never endorsed or officially cooperated with any WSEAS conference or activity.

Furthermore, it should be noted that SIAM does not provide email mailing lists to other organizations, especially not to organizations like WSEAS, and therefore SIAM has no connections with the email.

The email promoting the conference raises another serious issue. On the EURO-SIAM web pages WSEAS has taken verbatim, without permission or attribution, text from the SIAM web pages and posted it on their own web page. This text would seem to imply ties with SIAM. SIAM members should be assured that no such ties exist.

EURO-SIAM has no connection whatsoever with SIAM (the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics). The use of the name EURO-SIAM and the design of the EURO-SIAM web pages may confuse SIAM members into thinking there is a connection. We wish to state emphatically that there is no such connection.

SIAM encourages its members to ignore all such e-mail from WSEAS, its officers, or its conference organizers in the future.

We wish to continue to support the concerns of our members. Please report any details concerning fraudulent or plagiaristic activity.
