Hotel Rooms

SIAM is holding a block of rooms at the Amelia Island Plantation. These Oceanview rooms are being held on a first-come, first-served basis at $160.00 single/double. Rooms are subject to a 9% state and county tax and a $7.00 service charge per person, for a total of $181.40 per night. These rooms will be held for our exclusive use until January 29, 2000. Reservations made after January 29th will depend on availability.

We urge you to make your reservations immediately. You may do so by calling the Amelia Island Plantation, faxing your reservation, or mailing in the Hotel Reservation Form directly to the hotel. When making your reservation by phone, please be certain to identify yourself as an attendee of the SIAM meeting "Eighth International Conference on Numerical Combustion" to receive the discounted rate. When you call to make your reservation, be sure to ask for your confirmation number.

Location

An island resort in perfect harmony with nature. Amelia Island Plantation is on Amelia Island in northeast Florida, just 40 miles north of Jacksonville, across the St. Mary's River from Georgia, and adjacent to the picturesque Victorian fishing village of Fernandina Beach. The resort overlooks the azure blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean on the east and the Intracoastal Waterway on the west.

Deposit

The Amelia Island Plantation requires a deposit equivalent to one night's room rate ($181.40) to guarantee your reservation. The hotel accepts AMEX, MC, Visa, or check as a form of payment. The hotel will send out written confirmations.

Arrivals and Departures

Check-in time is 4:00 PM and check-out time is 11:00 AM.

Cancellations

If you need to change or cancel your reservation, you must contact the hotel 14 days prior to your scheduled arrival to receive a refund of your one night's deposit. Make sure that you get a cancellation number from the reservation department.

Dining

Breakfast with sunshine. Lunch on a verandah. Dinner in casual elegance. The Amelia Island Plantation has eight restaurants - offering fast food to sophisticated dining. There are 16 other restaurants in nearby Fernandina Beach. A list of restaurants will be included in your registration packet when you pick that up at the SIAM registration desk.

Recreational Facilities

Amelia Island Plantation offers everything a resort should. It has a health and fitness center; walking, jogging and biking trails; exquisite beaches; fresh and saltwater fishing; sailing; horseback riding; three 18 hole golf courses; 23 clay tennis courts; and award-winning Youth Programs. All activities are available and affordable for attendees to explore. You can sign up for any of these activities with the Recreation Department.

Fax & E-mail Capabilities

SIAM cannot offer e-mail access for individual attendees. We suggest you bring your own laptop computer and use hotel facilities. If you do not have your own personal laptop computer, the hotel business office offers this service at a nominal fee.

Weather

Amelia Island has an average temperature of 80 degrees during the day and 65-70 degrees at night. Remember to dress in layers in case the airconditioning makes the meeting rooms too cool.
