Nomination Procedures
To nominate a candidate as a SIAM Fellow, review eligibility criteria and nomination procedures, then go to the SIAM Fellows nomination website to submit all the required information.
Nominations for the 2010 class of Fellows are closed. The 2010 Class of Fellows will be announced April 1, 2010.
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2011 class of Fellows
- A single one-page letter of nomination approved by the three nominators. The nominators can be any three non-student members of SIAM, except members of the Fellows Selection Committee. No SIAM member can nominate more than two individuals in a given year.
- A curriculum vitae of at most four pages. It is suggested that the vita include selected publications and patents.
- Up to three letters of recommendation. Some or all of the letters may be written by a nominator. It is not a requirement that letters of recommendation have to be from SIAM members, but it is suggested that at least one letter be from a current SIAM Fellow. Letters of recommendation can be sent via email to FellowNominations@siam.org with a subject line of, "Letter of recommendation for candidate name". The letter may be in the text of the message or an attachment (.doc, .docx, or .pdf). In addition, the nominators for a given nominee may upload a letter of recommendation directly using the nomination web site. Letters of recommendation are kept confidential and only the submitter of the letter and the Fellows Selection Committee members are allowed to view them.
- A citation of about 20 words proposed for use if the nominee is selected to be a Fellow. (See http://fellows.siam.org/index.php?sort=year&value=2009 for citations of current fellows).
The Fellows Selection Committee will rely on the information in the nomination package and on the detailed insight about a nominee's professional accomplishments that is provided by the letters of recommendation. It is important that the nomination package describes the nominee's most significant contributions and their impact.
Any nomination that satisfies all requirements will remain active for three consecutive years. Incomplete nominations will be retained in the system and may be completed at a future date for consideration in a subsequent year.
