Call for Nominations
Richard C. DiPrima Prize
The Richard C. DiPrima Prize is awarded every two years to a junior scientist, based on an outstanding doctoral dissertation in applied mathematics.
SIAM will present the DiPrima Prize at the 2012 SIAM Annual Meeting (AN12) to be held jointly with the SIAM Conference on Financial Mathematics and Engineering (FM12), July 9-13, 2012, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Eligibility
Candidates for the prize must have completed their doctoral dissertations and all other requirements for their doctorates during the period running from three years prior to the award date to one year prior to the award date (July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2011). The doctorate must have been awarded at least eight months prior to the award date. The requirements for the doctorate must have been equivalent to those for an American doctorate.
Selection is based on the dissertations of the candidates. The dissertations must represent topics of applied mathematics (defined as those topics covered by the SIAM journals). They must be submitted in English. An English translation is acceptable.Description of the Award
The award consists of a hand-calligraphed certificate and a cash prize of $1,000. Travel expenses to the award ceremony will be provided by SIAM.
Nominations
A letter of nomination, along with a copy of the dissertation, should be sent, preferably by e-mail, to the address below. Nominations must be received in the SIAM office by October 15, 2011.
