George Pólya Prize for Mathematical Exposition

The George Pólya Prize for Mathematical Exposition will be awarded for the first time at the SIAM awards ceremony to be held during ICIAM 2015, August 10-14, 2015, in Beijing, China.

The George Pólya Prize for Mathematical Exposition will be awarded biennially to an outstanding expositor of the mathematical sciences.  The prize may be awarded for a specific work or for the cumulative impact of multiple expository works that communicate mathematics effectively.  The nature of the work may range from popular accounts of mathematics and mathematical discovery to pedagogy to systematic organization of mathematical knowledge.  The prize was created in 2013 to honor George Pólya's legacy of communicating mathematics effectively.

There are no restrictions except that the prize is broadly intended to recognize specific recent work.  Strong preference will be given to selecting one person as the prize winner.

Nominations should be sent to by October 15, 2014.  Attach a letter of nomination, including a description of the contribution(s), a CV of the candidate, and letters of support from two or three experts (not more than three letters). The letters should be addressed to:
