Lokenath Debnath (Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, University of London; Ph.D. in Pure Mathematics, University of Calcutta) has been Professor and Chair of Mathematics at The University of Texas Pan-American since 2001. Before that he was Professor and Chair of Mathematics at the University of Central Florida starting in 1983. He also held an appointment as Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the same university. He was Professor of Mathematics and Physics at East Carolina University from 1968 to 1983. He has been a visiting scholar at Oxford's Mathematics Institute and Cambridge University, University of Maryland and Florida State University and directed several NSF-CBMS research conferences. Currently Managing Editor of the International Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, Dr. Debnath is the author of twenty-three graduate level texts and edited monographs and numerous research papers in pure and applied mathematics and fluid and solid mechanics.
