S. S. Iyengar (Ph.D., Mississippi State University) is Professor and Chair of the Department of Computer Science at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, where he has taught since 1980. During that time, he has held visiting appointments in JPL, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, University of Paris, and the Indian Institute of Science. His research is centered on data structures and algorithms motivated by applications in image processing, sensor fusion, and computational aspects of robotics. He is a fellow of AAAS, an IEEE Fellow, and a recipient of the IEEE Research Award and the IEEE Professional Service Award. Professor Iyengar has directed an NSF Undergraduate Faculty Enhancement Workshop and an NSF Undergraduate Research Experience Program. He has coauthored four textbooks on wavelets, parallel algorithms, and sensor fusion.
