Dr. Komzsik (Dr. Eng. Technical University of Budapest, Hungary) is the Chief Numerical Analyst in the Office of Architecture and Technology at Siemens PLM Software. He has 35 years of experience in structural analysis and in applied mathematics. During his career, focused on scientific computing, he revolutionized some finite element computations, especially in the area of numerical solution methods used in commercial finite element analysis. In his current industrial position, he is researching technologies in the areas of computational geometry, finite element analysis and engineering optimization. In the past he developed most of the high performance numerical methods currently applied in NASTRAN, the world leader in finite element analysis software.
He is the author of a book on the evolution and application of the Lanczos method, published by SIAM and a book on “Computational Techniques of Finite Element Analysis” published by CRC Press that is in its second edition. His text books titled “Applied calculus of Variations for Engineers and “Approximation Techniques for Engineers” were published by Taylor&Francis in 2008 and 2006, respectively, and are used at several academic institutions. He is on the editorial boards of the international journals of Engineering with Computers, published by Springer and Computer Aided Design, published by Elsevier.
