Prize Description

Prize Description

The Frank and Brennie Morgan Prize is awarded annually for outstanding research in mathematics by an undergraduate student (or students having submitted joint work). Students in Canada, Mexico, or the US and its territories are eligible for consideration for the prize. The prize is given jointly by the American Mathematical Society (AMS), the Mathematical Association of America (MAA), and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), and the recipients are chosen by a joint selection committee.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must have been an undergraduate student at a college or university in Canada, Mexico, the US or its territories in December of the year before the nomination period. The research may be contained in a key paper or papers to be considered for the prize. A candidate must still be a student at the time of the nomination; they may graduate during the March - June nomination period, but the nomination must be made and the key paper(s) must be submitted while the candidate is still a student. The key paper(s) do not have to have been published at the time of nomination.

For the 2025 award, the student must be a current undergraduate student at a college or university in Canada, Mexico, the US or its territories as of December 31, 2023.
