Important Submission Information

How to Participate

SIAM requests that individuals limit themselves to presenting one talk or poster. (This does not apply to invited plenary speakers). All submissions are subject to review and final approval by the co-chairs of the organizing committee. The co-chairs will consider exceptions on a case-by-case basis when exceptional circumstances exist (i.e., presenter is ill, presenter is unable to obtain visa). In no case, should a presenter initially plan to present more than one talk or poster. If exceptional circumstances occur, and it is necessary to request an exception to this rule, please write to [email protected].

You are invited to contribute an oral or poster presentation in one of the formats listed below.

Acceptance Notification

Acceptance notification was emailed to participants on Tuesday, November 9, 2022 or Wednesday, November 10, 2022. If you are expecting a message but did not receive one, please write to us.

Speaker Cancellation

The Organizing Committee expects every speaker in a scheduled presentation to register and attend.

If it becomes necessary for a speaker to cancel a presentation, he or she should try to find an alternate presenter immediately, preferably a co-author. See SIAM Policy on Substitute Speakers and Remote Presentations. Contact SIAM at [email protected] immediately with any change to a scheduled presentation.

A “no-show” or cancelled presentation can cause serious inconvenience to the attendees and organizers. The committee thanks all speakers in advance for their compliance to this request.

Additional Information

Submission Formats

Minisymposia

Prospective minisymposium organizers are invited to submit a minisymposium proposal with four presentations per minisymposium part. Minisymposia can be composed of at most two parts. No exceptions will be considered. The length of minisymposium presentations at CSE23 will be 15 minutes with an additional five minutes for discussion after each presentation.

To ensure balance, SIAM requests that individuals not be the organizer or co-organizer of more than one minisymposium. Also, there is a limit of one talk or poster per conference participant. Minisymposium session organizers and individual speakers are equally responsible for ensuring participants adhere to the one talk or poster per person rule.

It is recommended that the first presentation includes an introduction and context for the minisymposium. Each minisymposium speaker must submit an abstract for their talk. The organizing committee will referee minisymposium proposals. The number of minisymposia may be limited to retain an acceptable level of parallelism in the conference sessions. Sessions submitted with more than one speaker listed as “TBD/TBA,” or using placeholders, may be rejected.

Please review the Guidelines for Preparing a Minisymposium Proposal. SIAM strongly discourages minisymposia in which most of the speakers (or co-authors) come from the same organization.

Prospective minisymposium organizers must submit a proposal consisting of the minisymposium title, a description (not to exceed 1,500 characters including spaces), a list of four speakers per part and the titles of their presentations using the Conference Management System.

Deadline for submission of minisymposium proposals: September 28, 2022.
Deadline for submission of minisymposium speaker abstracts: September 28, 2022.

Contributed Presentations in Lecture or Poster Format (including poster minisymposia)
Contributed Presentations in Poster Format

Contributed presentations in poster format are invited in all areas consistent with the conference themes. A poster format involves the use of visual aids for mounting on a A0 format (A0 is: 118,9 x 84,1 cm / 46,8 x 33,1 inches) poster board. Please note that the format of the poster should be Portrait rather than landscape. The posters will be displayed in the Poster Session on Tuesday, February 28th at 4 pm. Prizes for posters will be awarded, e.g., “best overall poster” and “best student poster.”

To participate, each contributor must submit a title and a brief abstract not to exceed 1,500 characters, including spaces. Please submit contributed presentations in poster format using the Conference Management System.

SIAM requests that participants submit only one presentation (either a minisymposium presentation, contributed lecture, or poster).

Final deadline for submission of contributed posters: September 28, 2022.

Minisymposterium (Poster Minisymposia)

A minisymposium of posters (that is, a minisymposterium) consists of a collection of three or more posters by different presenters grouped around a central theme. The posters will be co-located in the poster viewing area.

To submit a minisymposterium, organizers should follow the instructions under “Propose Minisymposterium” in the Conference Management System. Details needed are:

  • A short title for the minisymposterium
  • A short description of the minisymposterium (less than 1,500 characters including spaces)
  • Organizer name, affiliation, email address
  • For each presenter: Poster title, abstract, and presenters’ first name, last name, affiliation, and email address

Deadline for submission of minisymposterium poster abstracts: September 28, 2022

Contributed Presentations in Lecture Format

Contributed presentations in lecture format are also invited as an alternative to poster presentations. To offer a similar experience to all participants giving a presentation at the conference, accepted contributed talks will be included as an additional presentation in a related minisymposium.

A lecture format involves a 15-minute oral presentation with an additional 5 minutes for discussion. Each contributor must submit a title and a brief abstract not to exceed 1,500 characters, including blank spaces. Acceptance of abstracts for contributed presentations will be based on compatibility with the conference themes.

SIAM requests that participants submit only one presentation (either a minisymposium presentation, contributed lecture, or poster).

Please submit contributed presentations using the Conference Management System.

Deadline for submission of contributed abstracts in lecture format: September 28, 2022.
