Computational Methods for Fluid Dynamics: Tracking and Capturing

4:00 PM-6:00 PM
Rio Mar 3

This minisymposium brings together researchers in the field of computational fluid dynamics to discuss different approaches at the frontiers in designing high resolution numerical methods for problems involving physical discontinuities such as shocks and contact surfaces. This includes the method to fully and explicitly track the fluid interface and the shock-capture method. The speakers will address various aspects of these numerical methods, including the scientific motivation, the numerical difficulty for different methods, the algorithms to resolve them, the comparison of different methods, and the application to physical problems.
