10:00 AM-12:30 PM
Room: Executive Salon 2
Since the Fourth SIAM Conference on Geosciences in 1996, considerable amount of new work has been accomplished in the area of geostatistical simulation for petroleum reservoir characterization. As computational resources continue to become faster and more readily accessible, more and more algorithms are being developed and refined. Whereas the 1996 minisymposium was aimed more at field applications, the objective of this minisymposium is to establish a benchmark for the development of state-of-the-art simulation approaches. The speakers will present new algorithms that have only recently been incorporated into the geostatistical knowledge base. The proposed minisymposium is to be co-sponsored by the North American Council of Geostatisticians.
