Location

In the heart of historic Back Bay Boston stands a legendary landmark. Built in 1927, the Boston Park Plaza Hotel is Boston�s only member of Historic Hotels of America. This grand hotel is adjacent to the Public Garden with its swan boats, art galleries and restaurants of the world famous Newbury Street are nearby. This location is one of the loveliest of Boston.

Reservations

SIAM is holding a block of rooms at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel. These rooms are being held on a first-come, first-served basis at $165.00 single, $180.00 double. Each additional person in the room costs $20.00. The student rate at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel is $123.75 you must tell the hotel you are a student when booking the room and then show your student ID when you check into hotel. Rates are subject to prevailing state and local taxes, currently at 12.45%. These rooms will be held for SIAM's use until Monday, February 4, 2002

Please be aware that SIAM's room block fills quickly, so we suggest that you make your hotel and travel plans early. After SIAM's room block fills, reservations at the SIAM price will depend upon availability. Fax or mail the Hotel Reservation Form directly to the Boston Park Plaza Hotel. You may also make your reservation by phone: 617-426-2000 or 800-225-2008. Remember to get your confirmation number! Please be certain to mention that you are an attendee of the SIAM Conferences on Imaging Science and Life Sciences held on March 4-8, 2002. When making your travel and hotel reservations, remember that the Imaging Science Welcome Reception is scheduled for Sunday, March 3, 6:00 PM. The Life Sciences Welcome Reception is scheduled for Wednesday, March 6, 6:00 PM.

Deposit

The Boston Park Plaza Hotel requires a deposit equivalent to one night's room rate plus tax to guarantee your reservation. The hotel accepts American Express, MasterCard, VISA, money orders, or personal checks as forms of payment.

Cancellations

Eastern Time, 48 hours prior to your scheduled arrival to receive a refund of one night's deposit. Remember to get a cancellation number from the reservations department.

Arrivals and Departures

Check-in time is 3:00 PM. and check-out time is 12:00 noon.

Hotel Facilities

The Boston Park Plaza Hotel (www.bostonparkplaza.com) offers an in-house fitness center located in the lower lobby. These facilities are complimentary to all SIAM conference attendees staying at the hotel. Each room has an ironing board and iron, hair dryer and complimentary coffee/tea. Cable television with remote is standard in each room. Non-smoking rooms are available upon request. The hotel also has four restaurants to meet your culinary demands, and room service is served daily from 6:30 AM. � midnight. There are also several fast food restaurants within walking distance. Also for your convenience, the hotel has a business center, travel agency and a number of airline offices on the premises.

E-Mail Access

SIAM cannot offer E-Mail access. We suggest that you bring your own laptop computer and use the data port located in your sleeping room.

Hotel Room-Sharing List

A Hotel Room-Sharing List is available for those who wish to share a room with another attendee at the conference to reduce expenses. Please submit the Hotel Room-Sharing Form directly to SIAM.

Climate

The weather in Boston during August is beautiful; average August temperatures are in the mid 80 degrees range. In planning your trip, please check your favorite weather channel prior to departure. The evenings can be cool so bring an all-purpose jacket. Also, remember that meeting room temperatures and personal comfort zones vary widely. It is recommended that you bring a sweater or jacket to the sessions.
