Your support in staying at the Portola Hotel & Spa at Monterey Bay helps keep the conference costs down, which directly affects your registration fees. SIAM guarantees the hotel that we will fill a certain number of “room nights” (rooms per night) during the conference. SIAM incurs penalties if too many attendees opt to stay in other hotels in the area or neglect to indicate to the hotel that they are with the SIAM conference. At this time, conference costs do not include meeting room rental. If SIAM fails to fill the contracted room block, SIAM is then charged the cost for the meeting rooms on a daily basis, along with a hefty penalty. Future registration fees could increase to cover these additional risks.
Reservations
SIAM is holding a block of rooms at the Portola Hotel & Spa at Monterey Bay. These rooms are being held on a first-come, first-served basis at the following discounted rates. Please be aware the room block fills quickly, so we suggest you make your hotel and travel plans early.
The group rate is guaranteed until the cutoff date unless the block fills prior to that. If there are rooms available after the cutoff date, they will be available at the best rate offered at that time.Reservation Deadline – Monday, March 3, 2008 (or until the room block is filled)
Single/Double $179.00 per night plus 10% tax
Student rate $125.00 per night plus 10% tax
(Student ID must be presented upon check-in. SIAM is able to negotiate a limited number of special student rate rooms. Please book early as these rooms sell out quickly!)All rooms based on availability.
All rates are subject to state and local occupancy taxes.
Your reservation is not confirmed until acknowledged in writing by the hotel or verified by phone.
When making reservations, be sure to identify yourself as an attendee of the SIAM Conference on Numerical Combustion. In order to get the SIAM group rate, please make your reservations via fax at +1-831-372-0620 or mail the Hotel Reservation Form directly to the Portola Hotel & Spa at Monterey Bay. You may also make your reservation by phone by calling (USA and Canada) +1-831-649-4511. Do not make your reservation online through the hotel web site, as this will not allow you to retain the SIAM group rate.

Welcome Reception
When making your reservation, remember that the Welcome Reception is scheduled for Sunday, March 30, 2008. This is an excellent networking opportunity!
Deposit
The Portola Hotel & Spa at Monterey Bay requires a credit card to confirm and guarantee your reservation. The hotel will send out e-mail confirmations upon request.
Cancellations
If you need to change or cancel your reservation, you must contact the hotel 72 hours prior to your arrival date in order to avoid a cancellation fee. You can contact the hotel at (888) 222-5851 (USA and Canada) or +1-831-649-4511. Remember to get a cancellation number!
Check-In and Check-Out
Check-in time is 3:00 PM and check-out time is 12:00 PM.

Hotel guests will have complimentary use of the fitness center, sauna, pool and exercise room in the Portola Hotel & Spa at Monterey Bay.
