United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland Section (SIAM UKIE)
The SIAM-UKIE Section was formed in 1996 with the purpose to promote and support applied and industrial mathematics in the UK and Republic of Ireland.The activities of the Section are consistent with this objective and include: an annual meeting, student chapter events, student prizes, and support for other initiatives and events that bring together SIAM members from universities, industry, or other research institutions.

On January 9, 2014, SIAM UKIE held its 18th Annual Meeting, which was hosted by the University College London. In order to strengthen SIAM UKIE’s ties with the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA), its meeting was held the day after an IMA meeting. Former IMA President Robert MacKay (University of Warwick) was one of the featured speakers at the SIAM meeting, along with SIAM President Irene Fonseca (Carnegie Mellon University), Nick Gould (Rutherford Appleton Lab), Stephen Hendry (Oasys Software Ltd.), Niall Madden (National University of Ireland, Galway), and Alain Goriely (University of Oxford). The next Annual Meeting of the UK & Republic of Ireland Section of SIAM will take place at the University of Bath in January 2015.
