Important Submission Information

How to Participate

SIAM requests that individuals limit themselves to giving one talk. (This does not apply to invited plenary speakers). The co-chairs of the organizing committee may make exceptions to this request.

You are invited to contribute a presentation for this conference in one of the following formats.

Acceptance Notification

Authors will be notified by e-mail in March 2018.

Speaker Cancellation

The Conference Organizing Committee expects every speaker in a scheduled presentation to register and attend the conference.

If it becomes necessary for a speaker to cancel a presentation, he or she should try to find an alternate presenter immediately, preferably a co-author. See SIAM Policy on Substitute Speakers and Remote Presentations. Contact SIAM immediately with any change to a scheduled presentation.

A “no-show” or cancelled presentation can cause serious inconvenience to the attendees and conference organizers. The committee thanks all speakers in advance for their compliance to this request.

Minisymposia

A minisymposium consists of 2-5 sessions of four 25-minute presentations, with an additional five minutes for discussion after each presentation. Prospective minisymposium organizers are asked to submit a proposal consisting of a title, a description (not to exceed 100 words), and a list of lecturers invited to participate and titles of their presentations using the Conference Management System at:  http://meetings.siam.org/start.cfm?CONFCODE=ms18.

NOTE:  Each minisymposium will include lecturers invited to participate and lectures from contributed submissions. Minisymposium organizers may submit up to 75% of the lecture slots (3 speakers) with lecturers invited to participate, reserving at least 25% of the lecture slots (1 speaker) for contributed submissions. Contributed submissions will be solicited after the minisymposia are approved. Minisymposium organizers will be given the list of all contributed submissions to decide which to include in their minisymspoisum for oral presentation, which to be recommended for posters, and which to be rejected.

It is strongly recommended that minisymposium co-organizers not all represent the same organization. To ensure balance, SIAM prefers that a single individual not be an organizer of more than one minisymposium. The Organizing Committee will referee minisymposium proposals. The number of minisymposia may be limited to retain an acceptable level of parallelism in the conference sessions.

The Organizing Committee insists that the lecturers invited to participate in each minisymposium represent a diversity of organizations. Lecturers invited to participate and contributed submissions in each minisymposium should be interspersed throughout the program. Each minisymposium lecturer invited to participate should submit a 1,500 character (including spaces) abstract.

Be certain to review Guidelines for Preparing a Minisymposium Proposal.

Deadline for submission of minisymposium proposals: November 30, 2017
Deadline for submission of minisymposium speaker abstracts: January 18, 2018

Lecturers invited to participate:

Provide the full name, affiliation, and address of each speaker and the title of his/her presentation. Presentation titles and abstracts should be added to the Conference Management System (CMS) by the presentation abstract deadline. The CMS will re-open for updates after the program schedule is complete.

Contributed submissions in lecture and poster formats are invited in all areas consistent with the conference themes.
