The speakers will address some current directions and issues in control theory of distributed parameter systems. Motivated by applications of "smart" materials in control design, they will focus on the boundary formability of elastic structures, the effective stabilization of wave equations by actions on internal curves, and the controllability of semilinear problems containing superlinear terms. They will discuss several methods including nonharmonic analysis, characteristics, multipliers and integral inequalities.
