Deadline Dates

Deadlines are midnight Eastern Time EDT
September 13, 2010:  Minisymposium proposals
October 12, 2010:  Abstracts for contributed and minisymposium speakers

How to Participate

SIAM requests that individuals limit themselves to giving one talk. (This does not apply to invited plenary or topical speakers). The co-chairs of the organizing committee may make exceptions to this request.

You are invited to contribute a presentation for this conference in one of the following formats.

Minisymposia

A minisymposium consists of four 25-minute presentations, with an additional five minutes for discussion after each presentation. Prospective minisymposium organizers are asked to submit a proposal consisting of a title, a description (not to exceed 100 words), and a list of speakers and titles of their presentations using the Conference Management System available at:  http://meetings.siam.org/start.cfm?CONFCODE=gs11.

It is recommended that a minisymposium organizer make the first presentation. Each minisymposium speaker should submit a 75-word abstract. The organizing committee will referee minisymposium proposals. The number of minisymposia may be limited to retain an acceptable level of parallelism in the conference sessions.

To ensure balance, SIAM prefers that a single individual not be the organizer of more than one minisymposium.  In addition, SIAM discourages minisymposia in which most of the speakers come from the same organization or if all co-authors on the papers being presented in a minisymposium are from the same organization.

Be certain to visit http://www.siam.org/meetings/guidelines/mini_guide.php to review Guidelines for Preparing a Minisymposium Proposal.

Deadline for submission of minisymposium proposals : September 13, 2010
Deadline for submission of minisymposium speaker abstracts: October 12, 2010

Contributed Presentations in Lecture or Poster Format

Contributed presentations in lecture or poster format are invited in all areas consistent with the conference themes. A lecture format involves a 15-minute oral presentation with an additional 5 minutes for discussion. A poster format involves the use of non-electronic visual aids for mounting on a 4’ x 6’ or 4’ x 8’ poster board. In addition, this conference will feature a plenary “Poster-Blitz” session. Each poster presenter will be given a one-minute time slot to talk about and advertise the work preceding the poster session. For participating in the blitz session, each submission of a poster must include exactly two slides (no exceptions!) in PDF-format that will be displayed during the Poster-Blitz.  Details of where to submit slides will be available at a later date.

A poster session is two hours long.  Each contributor, either for a lecture or a poster, must submit a title and a brief abstract not to exceed 75 words.  Participants are encouraged to consider submitting posters as alternatives to contributed talks.

Please submit contributed presentations in lecture or poster format using the Conference Management System available at: http://meetings.siam.org/start.cfm?CONFCODE=gs11.

Deadline for submission of contributed abstracts: October 12, 2010
