New SIAM Journal Editors-in-Chief
SIAM publishes 17 peer-reviewed research journals as a means of meeting one of the primary objectives for organizing the Society: to provide media for the exchange of information and ideas between mathematicians and other scientists.
SIAM welcomes two new journal Editors-in-Chief as of the New Year:
At SIAM Journal on Discrete Mathematics (SIDMA), Dan Kral takes over from David Williamson, who has headed the journal since 2012. Kral, of the Mathematics Institute and Department of Computer Science at the University of Warwick, has been a member of the SIDMA Editorial Board for the past five years. His research includes theory of combinatorial limits, extremal combinatorics, structural, and algorithmic graph theory.
Tim Kelley steps down after two terms as SIAM Review’s Editor-in-Chief and Des Higham takes the reins. Higham is a SIREV veteran, completing his fifth year as Survey and Review Section Editor, which followed Associate Editor service. In addition, Higham is also a SIMAX Associate Editor and from 2002 through 2010 was a member of SISC’s Editorial Board. He is a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Strathclyde, where he is faculty adviser for the SIAM student chapter. He works in stochastic computation, with research interests in numerical analysis: the design and evaluation of computational methods.
