How members of your chapter can get free SIAM memberships
Once your chapter petition and rules of procedures are approved, student members of your chapter are eligible for free student membership in SIAM. There are two ways for students to get free membership:
- Students may join online at https://my.siam.org/JoinSIAM.aspx and claim free membership by virtue of their association with the chapter. After completing the online application, students will immediately receive an email confirmation, followed several weeks later by a new member orientation packet in the mail.
- Or, the faculty advisor or chapter officer can send the list of student chapter members to Nancy Snell, including student name, mailing address, e-mail address, and whether each member is a graduate or undergraduate student. Each student is also eligible to join two SIAGs for free, so if you know if any of the students would like to join any particular SIAGs (SIAM Activity Groups), you can note that on the list as well. We will process the memberships, email each student a confirmation, then send new member orientation packets to any of the students who are new members of SIAM.
NOTE that free student members receive SIAM Review only in electronic format and are not eligible to vote in SIAM elections. If students prefer to receive SIAM Review in print, as well as in electronic format, and they wish to be eligible to vote in SIAM elections, they can upgrade their membership for just $25 per year by joining online as a paying student or by contacting Customer Service at membership@siam.org.
