The SIAM Southern California Section serves members in Southern California and its surrounding areas.
The Southern California Section was formed in 1964 to serve SIAM members in Southern California and its surrounding areas. Its purpose is to promote the advancement and dissemination of mathematics and its wider use and understanding in the scientific and industrial community. The section has recently been revived, as of 2016.
The Southern California Section sponsors the Southern California Applied Mathematics Symposium (SOCAMS), which is a one-day meeting that features talks by applied mathematicians from local universities. The symposium showcases research by young faculty, post-docs, and graduate students.
