The Pioneer Prize is awarded every four years at the ICIAM Congress to one individual for pioneering work introducing applied mathematical methods and scientific computing techniques to an industrial problem area or a new scientific field of application. Established on the initiative of SIAM, it is one of five prizes administered and awarded by ICIAM. The prize is currently funded by SIAM.

- Nominator’s letter of recommendation for candidate
- Candidate’s CV
- Two or three letters of support from experts in the field or names of two or three experts to be consulted
- Proposed citation in fewer than 250 words

The Pioneer Prize includes a $5,000 monetary prize. The recipient will be reimbursed for reasonable travel expenses incurred in attending the award ceremony.

The Pioneer Prize will next be awarded at the 2019 ICIAM Congress, July 15-19, 2019, in Valencia, Spain.

The award will be presented by the President of ICIAM. The announcement of the award will appear in SIAM News, the SIAM website, and appropriate electronic media.

The initial funds for this award are contributed by SIAM.
