At SIAM, we are proud to collaborate with other organizations to enhance and promote applied mathematics and computational science. We believe in strengthening and enhancing our connections in order to further the innovations of STEM nationally and globally.

MathWorks Math Modeling Challenge

In this contest, sponsored by MathWorks and organized by SIAM, high school students experience what it’s like to work as a team to tackle a real-world problem under time and resource constraints, akin to those faced by professional mathematicians working in industry. The Challenge awards $100,000 in scholarships in 2018 and is entirely Internet-based with no registration or participation fees. Learn more.

BIG Math Network

This multi-organization partnership works to connect mathematical scientists in business, industry, government, and academia through various channels and efforts, with an emphasis on building job opportunities and increasing knowledge about internships. Learn more.

Guidelines for Assessment and Instruction in Mathematical Modeling Education

This freely downloadable report was funded by the Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications (COMAP) and SIAM, with cooperation of National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and support from MathWorks Math Modeling Challenge. The report helps the modeling process to be understood as part of STEM studies and research, and taught as a basic tool for problem solving and logical thinking. Learn more.

National Science Foundation (NSF)

NSF is an independent federal agency created by Congress in 1950 "to promote the progress of science; to advance the national health, prosperity, and welfare; to secure the national defense..." NSF is the only federal agency whose mission includes support for all fields of fundamental science and engineering, except for medical sciences. Funding from NSF has strengthened many SIAM programs throughout the decades, including our conferences, awareness initiatives, and more. Learn more.

Theory of Probability and Its Applications

Theory of Probability and Its Applications (TVP) is a translation of the Russian journal Teoriya Veroyatnostei i ee Primeneniya, which contains papers on the theory and application of probability, statistics, and stochastic processes. Learn more.

The MathJax Consortium is a joint venture of the American Mathematical Society (AMS) and SIAM to advance mathematical and scientific content on the web. Learn more.

AAAS Mass Media Science & Engineering Fellows Program

The AAAS Media Fellowship is a 10-week summer program that places science, engineering, and mathematics students at media organizations nationwide. SIAM participates in this program by sponsoring one student (normally a graduate student) to participate in the summer media internship program. Learn more.

United States of America Mathematical Olympiad - USAMO

Math Olympiad is a math problem-solving contest opened for schools and institutions, the contest introduces important mathematical concepts, strategies for problem-solving, and provides an enriching classroom activity. Learn more.

Pi Mu Epsilon

Pi Mu Epsilon is a council dedicated to the promotion of mathematics and recognition of students who successfully pursue mathematical understanding. Learn more.

Sister Societies

We're proud to work with sister societies, such as American Mathematical Society and Mathematical Association of America, to advance mathematical achievement, encourage research, and provide the communication necessary to progress in the field. Collaborations include the annual Joint Math Meeting, books projects, and more.

SIAM Representatives to ICIAM
SIAM Representatives to ICIAM

SIAM is a member society of the International Council for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ICIAM). Current ICIAM Bylaws assign large applied mathematics societies two representatives to be chosen by the society. ICIAM representatives will attend the annual meetings of the Council and vote on behalf of the society they represent.
