Call for Nominations
SIAM Activity Group on Dynamical Systems J. D. Crawford Prize
The SIAM Activity Group on Dynamical Systems (SIAG/DS) will present the J. D. Crawford Prize at the SIAM Conference on Applications of Dynamical Systems (DS15), to be held May 17-21, 2015, at Snowbird, Utah.
The J. D. Crawford Prize is awarded to an individual for recent outstanding work on a topic in nonlinear science, as evidenced by a publication in English in a peer-reviewed journal within the four (4) calendar years preceding the year of the award. The term 'nonlinear science' is used in the spirit of SIAG/DS meetings; specifically it includes dynamical systems theory and its applications as well as experiments and computations/simulations.
A candidate’s research work must contain significant contributions to the field of nonlinear science. One particular paper must be cited as evidencing the contributions. The paper must have been published in English in a peer-reviewed journal bearing a publication within the four (4) calendar years preceding the year of the award. For the 2015 award, the eligibility period is January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2014.
Description of the Award
The award will consist of a plaque, a certificate, and a cash award of $750. SIAM will reimburse the recipient’s reasonable travel expenses incurred in attending the conference to receive the award.
Nominations should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org by November 15, 2014. Attach a letter of nomination, citing the paper on which the nomination is based and describing the paper’s contributions. Nominations should also include a CV of the candidate and letters of support from two or three experts (but no more than three letters). Letters of support should address the merits of the one paper.
