W. T. and Idalia Reid Prize

Prize Specifications

Principal Guideline

The W.T. and Idalia Reid Prize in Mathematics (hereinafter called "prize") is awarded for research in, or other contributions to, the broadly defined areas of differential equations and control theory. Each prize may be given either for a single notable achievement or a collection of such achievements.

Prize Committee

The W.T. and Idalia Reid Prize Committee (hereinafter called "committee") shall consist of five members selected from the scientific community.

Each year, one new member of the committee shall be selected by the president of SIAM to serve a five-year term. This new member must be selected so that the new committee has at least two members representing each of the above research areas (i.e. differential equations and control theory). Each committee member must represent at least one of the stated research areas. The committee shall determine its own rules of operation with the exception of those rules specified herein. If, for any reason, a committee member is unable to complete his/her term, the president of SIAM shall appoint an individual to serve for the remaining portion of that term. Past prize winners should be considered for committee membership.
